" The voltage of the first battery is twice the voltage of the second", then:
.5x = voltage of the 2nd battery

"and 1/3 the voltage of the third battery."which means:
3x = voltage of the third battery

Find the actual voltage of each battery.
:
x + .5x + 3x = 54
4.5x = 54
x = 54%2F4.5
x = 12v is the 1st battery
and
.5(12) = 6v is the 2nd battery

3(12) = 36v is the 3rd battery
