If aN item was 25 before, and is 20 now, what's the rate of discount?
so we know that 25-20=5. So that's the discount. 5/25 was deducted from the saling prize. 5/25=1/5 =20%.
Percent of Change.
From 1000-115. First, you ahve to decide whether it's a percent of increase or decrease. (In this case, going from a bigger number to smaller number is decrease). You take the whatever bigger number, and subtract it by the smaller number. (1000-115= 885)
Now you put this number on the numerator of the ratio, and the first (FIRST) number to the denominator.

If you know the original and discount, you'll know the sellign prize. Let say a 60 dollar jack for 16% off.
You multiply to these two numbers to find the amount of discount. 16 % of 60 is .16X60 which is 9.6, so 9.6 dollars will be taken off from the 60 dollar.
