5x+2y=18 ...(1)
2x+3y=16 ...(2)
(1)*3=> 15x+6y = 54 ..(3)
(2)*2=> 4x+6y = 32 ...(4)
(3)-(4)=> 11x = 22
x = 22/11
x = 2
(1)=> 5*2+2y = 18
10+2y = 18
2y = 18-10
2y = 8
y = 8/2
y = 4
The solution is x=2,y=4
