Question 267783: I need to know what point lies on the line defined by the equation 4x-3y=9.
I tried substituting 0 for X and using -3 as my Y-intercept and my coordinate became (o,3) but apparently that was wrong. So my only other choices are (3,7), (2,-1/3), or (2,17/3). I cannot figure out how to get any of those solutions. Can you help?

Yes, if you use 0 for then you get -3 for , but that would mean that the point is (0,-3), not (0,3).

So, substitute 3 for :





So not (3,7)

Substitute 2:





Ta da!!

If the third one is correct, then the last one can't be because the last two ordered pairs have the same coordinate and different coordinates. Only one of the last two points could possibly be on the line.
