We know the formula for area of a circle is A=(pi)r^2
r is radius so that would be 8.5 inches for this problem. Plug in the values we have:
A=pi8.5^2 rewritten as:
A=(pi)72.25 square inches (In truth this is the exact area.)
We could round off pi to be 3.14 and get:
226.865 Square inches
