step 1 - subtract 5 to get

step 2 - take out the gcf to get
(iii) x%28a-3%29+=+a+%2B+b+-+5
step 3 - divide by a-3 to get
(iv) x+=+%28a+%2B+b+-+5%29%2F%28a-3%29
