Question 266202: actually this problem is using the the Phythagorean Theorem this is the question I finished the whole assignment but I dont get this.

2. A customer wants to make a teepee in his backyard for his children. He plans to use lengths of PVC plumbing pipe for the supports on the teepee, and he wants the teepee to be 10 feet across and 6 feet tall (see figure). Use the Pythagorean Theorem to calculate how long the pieces of PVC plumbing pipe should be? I dont know if the Triangle copied to you, but it is a triangle shaped like a tepee with a line down the middle which says height is 6ft, and the base width is 10ft.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

-------------------------------
Sounds like you have a right triangle with vertical leg is 6 ft
and horizontal leg is 5 ft (half of the total width of 10).
----
I don't see the figure but the slant height of the teepee can
be determined using Pythagoras.
---
(slant height)^2 = leg^2 + other leg^2
s^2 = 5^2 + 6^2
s^2 = 25 + 36
s^2 = 61
s = sqrt(61) is approximately 7.81 ft,
