Problem: A coin box of a vending machine contains six time as many quarters as dimes. If the total amount of money in quarters and dimes is $28.80 how many quarters and how many dimes are in the box?
Answer by Paul(988) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Dimes = x
Quarters = 6x
Quarter value = 25
Dime vale = 10
TOtal = 2880

25(6x)+10x=2880
150x+10x=2880
160x=2880
x=18

6(18)=108

Hence, there were 18 dimes and 108 quarters.
