Question 264871: What is answer in Lowest terms ((5+5k)/4) + ((1+k)/8)
Work done:
((5+5k)/4) + ((1+k)/8) =
(2(5+5k)/8) + ((1+k)/8) =
((2(5+5k))+(1+k))/8 =
This is the answer per my book/example:
((2x5+1)(1+k))/8 = 11(1+k)/8
What happened to the (2(5+5k)) and where did the +1 come from? Found 2 solutions by Theo, JBarnum:Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source):
((2(5+5k))+(1+k))/8 =
THE ABOVE STATEMENT IS CORRECT.
This is the answer per my book/example:
((2x5+1)(1+k))/8 = 11(1+k)/8
THE ABOVE STATEMENT IS INCORRECT.
IT SHOULD HAVE READ.
((2*5 + 2*5k) + (1+k)
IT'S PROBABLY A MISPRINT AS THEY GOT THE ANSWER CORRECT AND THERE'S NO WAY THE STATEMENT AS IT STANDS WOULD GIVE YOU THAT ANSWER.
What happened to the (2(5+5k)) and where did the +1 come from?
