Question 264344: Rational Expressions:
Problem 1.Perform the indicated operation. Reduce each answer to lowest
terms.
2/x-3+3/3-x
Problem 2.Solve each equation.
x/3=4/x+1
Problem 3.Perform the indicated operation. Reduce each answer to lowest
terms.addition and subtraction of rational numbers.
4/9-1/9
Problem 4.Perform the indicated operation. Reduce each answer to lowest
terms.addition and subtraction of rational expressions.
a+7/a-4 + a-5a/a-4
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Rational Expressions:
Problem 1.Perform the indicated operation. Reduce each answer to lowest
terms.
2/x-3+3/3-x
Um this problem isnt written correctly to solve unless we are going with the order of operations which then looks like this:(2/x)-3+(3/3)-x => (2/x)-3+(1)-x
(2/x)-2-x
Problem 2.Solve each equation.
x/3=4/x+1
agian written incorrectly above says: (x/3)=(4/x)+1
im going to assume you meant (x/3)=(4/x+1) multiply by(3)(x+1) to both sides
x(x+1)=4(3)
x^2+x=12
x^2+x-12=0 A=1 B=1 C=-12 if u do the quadratic equation or if you look at it right u will know that (x+4)(x-3)= x^2+x-12=0
x+4=0 => x=-4
x-3=0 => x=3
Problem 3.Perform the indicated operation. Reduce each answer to lowest
terms.addition and subtraction of rational numbers.
4/9-1/9=> 3/9=> 1/3
Problem 4.Perform the indicated operation. Reduce each answer to lowest
terms.addition and subtraction of rational expressions.
a+7/a-4 + a-5a/a-4
I get what you mean but this is the correct format:
((a+7)/(a-4)) + ((a-5a)/(a-4))
it has a common denomonator
so (a+7+a-5a)/(a-4) => (7-3a)/(a-4)
