You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if two base angles of an isoceles triangle are equal in measure and the third angle is five times the measure of a base angle minus 9 degrees, what are the measures of each angle.
:
Let x = measure of each of the two base angles
:
It says,"the third angle is five times the measure of a base angle minus 9 degrees,", therefore
(5x - 9) = the 3rd angle
:
The three angles = 180
x + x + (5x - 9) = 180
2x + 5x = 180 + 9
7x = 189
x = 189%2F7
x = 27 degrees, the two base angles
and
5(27) - 9 = 126 degrees, the third angle
:
:
Check: 27 + 27 + 126 = 180
