Question 261691: A father made a batch of cookies. His son ate 4 and gave 6 to a friend. Two of his daughters ate half of the remaining cookies. The father was left with 13 cookies. How many cookies did the father make? Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! This attempt at role reversals is ludicrous. THe whole family should have bene making cookies.
x-(4+6)=y
y/2=z
x-10-z=13
36 cookies were made
Since the two daughters ate half of what remained after the son and friend ate 10 cookies, the daughters ate 13
The father was left with as many as the girls ate.
13+13+10=36
