Question 261626: Solve for X
3^x = -2
Answer by unlockmath(1688) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hello,
We'll solve this by taking the Logarithm of both sides like this:
3^x = -2
Log3 3^x = Log3 -2 (Notice: we're using log3 for both sides because this gives the left side of the "=" leaving just x)
x=log3 -2 Now we need change of base formula.
x=log -2/ log 3
From here with the scientific calculator you can find the values. (Note: Log -2 is not defined)
