PROBLEM:
Carla used a total of 157 digits as she wrote a list of consecutive integers. If the last number she wrote was 140, what was the first number in her list? Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! One sure way to solve this is write down 157 digits working back from 140 back toward zero.
140 back to 101 would be 40 numbers of three digits
3*40=120
plus the three of 100=123
157-123=34
now we go from 99 34 digits or 17 numbers would end at 83
So she started with 83 and end with 140
