I'll march you through the steps so you can do future problems like this.
4x + 7y = 21, Find y when x = 14. Plug in 14 for x like this:
4(14)+ 7y = 21 Rewritten as:
56+7y = 21 Now we subtract 56 from both sides to be:
7y=-35 Then we divide each side by 7 to result in:
y=-5
We can check to see if this is right by plugging the answer into the original problem. I'll let you do that.
