Since Bill "works 8 hours he will receive $50", we know that he gets 50%2F8=6.25 dollars an hour. Now let h=number of hours that Bill works and s=Bill's salary.

So if Bill works 'h' hours, then he will get paid 6.25h. So the equation that we're looking for is s=6.25h. For example, if Bill works 8 hours, then he will get s=6.25%2A8=50 dollars. Or if he works for 12 hours, then he will get s=6.25%2A12=75 dollars.
