Question 260631: The second angle of a triangle is 3 times as large as the first. The third angle is 55° more than the first. Find the measure of the smallest angle.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hello,
Let's have "x" represent the first angle. The second angle will be shown as 3x and the third angle will be x+55. We know all triangles have 180 degrees so the equation we can set up will look like this:
x+3x+(x+55)=180 Combine like terms and we'll get:
5x+55=180 Now subtract 55 from both sides to get:
5x=135 Divide both sides by 5 to result in:
x=27 OK this is the smallest angle.
Make sense?
