Question 260574: I am not sure if this is the correct topic to click, but here it goes anyways. Can you please help me Divide this equation. Can you please explain it out step by step? I am having a hard time understanding how to divide.
Divide:
x^2+7x+4 BY x+2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The quotient is x+5 with a remainder of -6.
Set it up just like a long division problem
so we start with x+2 into x^2+7x which goes x times
so what is x(x+2)? x^2+2x
so now you have 7x with 2x under it so you subtract and get 5x
bring down the 4
divide x+2 in 5x+4 and you get 5 of course
what is 5*(x+2)? 5x+10
subtract 10 from 4 and get -6
all done
