| Question 258929:  Here’s the problem:
 For a car renting for $15 per day plus $.10 per mile, the cost for 1 day is
 C(m)=15+o.10m (dollars)
 where m is the number of miles driven. If the person paid $35.30 for 1 day’s rental, how far did the person drive?
 Now I can look at this and know what the answer is, but I have to solve it using
 L(a)=-2/3+150
 I not only do not understand how to do it – I don’t understand the function.
 Could you guide me through this please?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! For a car renting for $15 per day plus $.10 per mile, the cost for 1 day is C(m)=15+0.10m (dollars) where m is the number of miles driven.
 If the person paid $35.30 for 1 day’s rental, how far did the person drive?
 -----
 Solve 15 + 0.10m = 35 for "m"
 Subtract 15 from both sides to get:
 0.10m = 20
 m = 20/(0.10)
 m = 20/(1/10)
 m = 20 miles
