Let the numbers be x and x+1
Given, the sum of the numbers is 20 less than three times the larger.
x+x+1 = 3(x+1)-20
2x+1 = 3x+3-20
2x-3x = -17-1
-x = -18
x = 18
So the numbers are 18 and 19
