To evaluate, remember the phrase the letter goes away and the number comes to stay.
#1: 8x, when x = 7
8x -> 8*7 = 56

#2: 6y, when y = 7
6y -> 6*7 = 42

Problem one: Evaluate 8x, when =7
I assume you mean x = 7

Replace the x in 8x with 7 --> 8*7 = 56

Problem two: Evaluate 6y, when y=7
