You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x pounds of peanuts and y pounds of cashews be mixed.
Then, x+y = 100 ...(1)
Given, the wholesaler charges $2.80 per pound for peanuts and %5.30 per pound for cashews. The mix is to sell for $3.30 per pound.
So, 2.80x+5.30y = 3.30(x+y)
2.80x+5.30y = 3.30*100
2.80x+5.30y = 330 ...(2)
(1)*2.80=> 2.80x+2.80y = 280 ...(3)
(2)-(3) => 2.50y = 50
y = 50/2.50
y = 20
(1)=> x+20 = 100
x = 100-20 = 80
So 80 pounds of peanuts and 20 pounds of cashews be mixed.
