You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2/(x+2)-1/(x-6)=3/(2x+4)combine the left hand fractions using the LCD.
[2(x-6)-1(x+2)/(x+2)(x-6)=3/(2x+4) expand numerator & multiply denominator.
(2x-12-x-2)/(x^2-4x-12)=3/(2x+4)
(x-14)/(x^2-4x-12)=3/(2x+4) cross multiply.
(x-14)(2x+4)=3(x^2-4x-12)
2x^2-24x-56=3x^2-12x-36
2x^2-3x^2-24x+12x-56+36=0 combine like terms.
-x^2-12x-20=0
x^2+12x+20=0
(x+10)(x+2)=0
x+10=0
x=-10 ans.
x+2=0
x=-2 not an answer because the proof divides by zero.
Proof:
2/(-2+2)-1/(-2-6)=3/(2*-2+4)
2/0-1/-8=3/(-4+4)
2/0+1/8=3/0
------------------------
2/(-10+2)-1/(-10-6)=3/(2*-10+4)
2/-8-1/-16=3/(-20+4)
-2/8+1/16=3/-16
-4/16+1/16=-3/16
-3/16=-3/16
