You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In another showing of the school play, the 150 seat theater was again sold out. This time, the revenue from the tickets ($3 for students and $5 for adults) was $655. How many tickets of each type were sold?
.
Let x = students tickets sold
then
150-x = adult tickets sold
.
Our equation:
3x + 5(150-x) = 655
3x + 750-5x = 655
750-2x = 655
-2x = -100
x = 50 (number of student tickets sold)
.
Adult tickets sold:
150-x = 150-50 = 100
