You can put this solution on YOUR website! If there are 2.5 times as many female as there are male. How many males are there if there are 175 people?
--------------------------------
Let the number of males be "x":
Then there are 2.5x females.
---
Equation:
x + 2.5x = 175
3.5x = 175
x = 50 (# of males)
2.5x = 2.5*50 = 125 (# of femailes)
