Question 25689: x-8=9
Answer by queenofit(120) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x-8=9 is this your entire equation? then lets start from the beginning.
first remember that the numbers like to be on one side of the = and the variables like to be on the other side. So to get them on the side they like to be on, we have to move them. to do this we must be fair to each "team" by doing the same thing to each side. to get rid of your -8 on the side with the x you would add 8, so you must add 8 to the other side. like this
x-8+8=9+8 this will leave you with just an x on the left side of the =.
x=9+8 then combine your like terms
x=17
hope this helps
