Question 256670: Write an equation of the line containing the given point and parallel to the given line. Expess you answer in the form y=mx+b. (-7,7);4x=3y+7
I am trying to understand this problem, I tried to plug these numbers into my last problem, however I do not understand how you came up with some of the numbers, so it is not working for me. Please let me know how you get each number in particular when you find what b=. Thank you so much, how much would you charge to help me with the final?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Write an equation of the line containing the given point and parallel to the given line. Express your answer in the form y=mx+b.
(-7,7);4x=3y+7
--------------------
Write the given equaion in slope-intercept form:
y = (4/3)x - (7/3)
slope = 4/3
-------------------
Any line parallel to this line must have slope = 4/3
-------------------
Form of the equation you want is y = mx + b
You know m=4/3 and you know y = 7 when x = -7.
So, solve for "b":
7 = (4/3)(-7) + b
(21/3) = (-28/3) + b
b = (49/3)
----------------------
Equation you want:
y = (4/3)x + (49/3)
