Question 25581: i need some help please any one.using the geometric series of numbers 1,1/2,1/4,1/8 what is the ratio between 2 terms,and what would the 10th term be.
if on a checker board pennies were placed on all squareseg.1 on first square 2on 2nd. 4 on 3rd.how much would have to be placed on the 32nd.square.thanks in advance for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! to get the ratio between terms, you can use neighbouring terms.
First term = a
Second term = ar
ar/a is r, the common ratio
So, first term is 1 and second term is 1/2, so r is (1/2)/1 --> r=1/2
10th term is --> 1*(1/2)^9 --> 1/512
Sequence 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, ... are powers of 2: , , etc
So, on 32nd square we would have coins.
