You can put this solution on YOUR website!
three times a number=3x
increased by 4 =+4
is = =1/2x
decreased by 1 =-1
Put it all together.
3x+4=1/2x-1
To solve get x on one side and ALL numbers on the other.
Let's get rid of that 1/2
Multiply by 2
6x+8=x-2
subtract x and 8
5x=-10
x=-2
