Question 255016: Can someone please help me with this probability event. I know the solution but having trouble figuring out how they came to this conclusion.

Write a sample space with equally likely outcomes for each experiment.
Slips of paper marked with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are placed in a box. After mixing well, two slips are drawn.
Answer: (1,2), (1,3), (1,4), (1,5), (2,3), (2, 4), (2,5), (3, 4), (3,5), (4,5)
(1, 1) (1,2) (1, 3) (1, 4) (1, 5)
(2, 1) (2, 2) (2, 3) (2, 4) (2, 5)
(3, 1) (3, 2) (3, 3) (3, 4) (3, 5)
(4, 1) (4, 2) (4, 3) (4, 4) (4, 5)
(5, 1) (5, 2) (5, 3) (5, 4) (5, 5)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Write a sample space with equally likely outcomes for each experiment.
Slips of paper marked with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are placed in a box. After mixing well, two slips are drawn.
------------
Comment: If 2 slips are drawn at a time no repetition pairs
would be possible. That is why the "Answer" does not contain (1,1) (2,2) etc.
There are 5C2 = (5*4)/(1*2) = 10 pairs in the answer.
