Question 254953: This problem needs to be solved by linear combination method:
{9xsqrd - 6ysqurd =291
3xsqurd + 2ysqurd =197
both of these are to be bracketed on the left.
I am really struggling with this problem and am wondering if you must multiply the bottom set by 2 to make it compatible with the top set and where do I go from there? I hope you can help me soon.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Your two equations are:
(i)
(ii)
step 1 - multiply (ii) by 3 to get
(iii)
add (i) to (iii) to get
(iv)
solving for x, we get
so
Now, find y.
