Question 254679: What is the greatest whole number that must be a factor of the sum of any 4 consecutive positive odd numbers? Answer by drk(1908) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let the four consecutive positive odd numbers be:
x
x+2
x+4
x+6
If we add them, we get
4x + 12
factoring we get
4(x+3)
So 4 will always divide any 4 consecutive odd numbers.
