Graph the line but using a dashed line instead of a solid line (that's because the inequality excludes equals, i.e. it is rather than )

Select a point in the plane that is NOT on the line you just graphed. is a good choice for this problem.

Substitute the values from the point you selected into the original inequality. If the result is a true statement, then shade in the half-plane on the side of the graphed line that includes the selected point. If the resulting statement is false, shade in the other side of the line.

The solution set is the set of ordered pairs comprising the shaded area, NOT including the dashed boundary line.
