Let the speed of Ricardo = x miles per hour.
Time to meet = 5 hours
Distance travelled by Ricardo = 5x
Distance travelled by Pablo = 5*40+30 = 200+30 = 230
When they meet, both distances are equal.
5x = 230
x = 230/5
x = 46 miles per hour
Therefore the speed of Ricardo = 46 miles per hour.
