let pushes on the button equal P and turns on the switch equal T
7P+3T=23
We can try all values of P (we don't need to do anything over P=4 because this alone would give us more than 23 rings.
7(0)+3T=23
T=23/3
7(1)+3T=23
3T=16
T=16/3
7(2)+3T=23
14+3T=23
3T=9
T=3
So, when turns equals 3, P=2
Therefore, the button was pushed 2 times.
