The diagonals of a rectangle have lengths 4 + 2x and 6x – 20.
The diagonals of a rectangle are congruent or equal so
4+%2B+2x++=+6x+%96+20
step 1 - subtract 2x from both sides to get
4+=+4x+%96+20
step 2 - add 20 to both sides to get
24+=+4x+
step 3 - divide by 4 to get
x+=+6

add 20 to both sides
24=2x=6x
subtract 4x
