Let x be the required number.
Given, if 6 divided by 1 less than a number gives the same result as 15 divided by twice the same number.
6/(x-1) = 15/2x
6*2x=15(x-1)
12x= 15x-15
12x-15x=-15
-3x = -15
x = (-15)/(-3)
x = 5

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x = the number

6%2F%28x-1%29+=+15%2F2x

multiply both sides of equation by %28x-1%29%2A%282x%29

result is:

6%2A2x+=+15%2A%28x-1%29

simplify to get:

12%2Ax+=+15%2Ax+-+15

subtract 12*x from both sides of the equation and add 15 to both sides of the equation to get:

3%2Ax+=+15

divide both sides of the equation by 3 to get 5
