Yes you are right. I tend to call this "expanding" rather than "multiplying"
(5a - 2b)^2 = (5a -2b)(5a - 2b)
so 5a x (5a - 2b) = 25a^2 - 10 ab
and -2b(5a - 2b = -10ab --4 b^2
which goes to 25 a^2 -20ab + 4b^2

I get
25a^2-20ab+4b^2
which looks a lot like your answer.
