(x^2+3x-2)+(-2x^2-5x+1)+x^2-x-5)= x^2+3x-2-2x^2-5x+1+x^2-x-5
= (x^2-2x^2+x^2)+(3x-5x-x)+(-2+1-5)
= -3x-6
