let Jan age be y and Maria age be x.
So 3x=y
After 7 years ,Jan age is 3x+7 and Maria ge is y+7
3x+7+y+7=30
y+7+y+7=30
2y+14=30
2y=16
y=8
3x=8
x=8/3=2yr and 2/3 yrs=2yr 8mnths
Jan is 8yrs and maria is 2yr 8mnths
