Question 25236: We are trying to understand how to coordinate and graph the following problem.
16. y = -x + 3
y = x + 1
The examples given in the book are not clear to me. It ask to estimate the solution of the linear system graphically. Then check the solution algebraically. Answer by elima(1433) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! y = -x + 3
y = x + 1
They are already in slope-intercept form, so you would plot these lines on a graph, they are going to be perpendicular lines becuase therie slopes are opposite reciprocals(-1 and 1).
After you graph these the point of intersection should be able to solve both equations, if it does you are correct.
eq.1;
slope=
y-intercept= 3
eq.2;
slope =
y-intercept= 1
Hope you understand
