Solve either equation for x or y in terms of the other and then substitute that result in the other equation such that you will have either all x's or y's in that equation
-3x+4y=-7
add 3x to both sides
4y=3x-7
divide both sides by 4
y=3x/4-7/4
substitute 3x/4-7/4 for y in the other equation and solve for x
then put that number in either of the original equation and solve for
