Question 252207: hi i have a question about word problems for zero products. What does it mean when it says find a # where the square of itself is 195 more than twice the #? Answer by hokies(65) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x be the number:
x^2 = 2*x + 195
x^2 - 2*x - 195 = 0
Use quadratic formula, or solve by factoring
(x+13)*(x-15)=0
x = -13 or x = 15
:-) (yes, that is part of the solution)
