time = (3/2) hrs ; distance = x miles ; rate = d/t = x/(3/2)= (2x/3) mph

Plane DATA:
time = (1/2) hr ; distance = x miles ; rate = x/(1/2) = 2x mph

Compare the rates:
plane speed = k*bus speed
2x = k*(2/3)x
k = 3

The plane is 3 times as fast as the bus.

The plane takes (1/3) the time of the bus to cover the same distance.
