You can put this solution on YOUR website! absolute value gives you 2 equations. |x-2| is the same as x-2 OR -(x-2). If x-2 is greater than 0 (positive), then we simply use x-2. However, if x-2 is less than 0 (negative) then we use -(x-2).
So you set up two equations and substitute x-2 in for |x-2| in one of the equations and -(x-2) in for |x-2| in the other equation. Make sure you put the parenthesis around the entire absolute value so the negative goes with both terms. You will use y=(x-2)+5 for all x greater than or equal to 2 and y=-(x-2)+5 for all x less than two.
