You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a hypothesis will test that two population means are equal. a sample of 10 with a standard deviation of 3 is selected from the first population and a sample of 3 is selected from the first population with standard deviation = 8. The standard deviations are not equal.
Testing the claim at the .01 level, what is the critical value?
Assume unequal standard deviations
============
df = n1+n2-2 = 10+3-2 = 11
---
Critical value for 2-tail test, when df=11 and alpha = 1%
= invT(0.995,11) = 3.1058
=====================
That is not one of your listed answers but it is the
critical value for your posted problem.
