we want to remove the parentheses by performing the additions and subtractions indicated.
-(6x+8)=-1*6x+(-1)*8
-6x-8
so now we have
8x-6x-8=4
combine 8x-6x
move the -8 to the other side by adding the opposite of -8 to both sides
