From eq (1),
2x + y = 3
=> 2x = 3 - y
Substituting the value of 2x in eq (2) we get
-2x - 5y = -25
=>-1(3-y) - 5y = -25
=> y - 3 - 5y = -25
=> -4y = -25 + 3
=> -4y = -22
=> y = -22/-4 = 5.5
Substituing the value of y in eq (1) we get
2x + y = 3
=> 2x + 5.5 = 3
=> 2x = 3 - 5.5 = -2.5
=> 2x = -2.5
=> x = -1.25
Therefore x = -1.25 and y = 5.5 (Answer)
