Question 249784: On three consecutive passes a football team gains 10 yds., loses 32 yrds., and gains 36 yds. What is the total net yardage?

A gain is a positive number, a loss is a negative number
gains 10 yds. means (+10)
loses 32 yds. means (-32)
gains 36 yds. means (+36)
(+10) + (-32) + (+36)
Add the positive ten and the negative thirty-two and get negative twenty-two.
Then add that negative twenty-two to the positive thirty-six and get positive fourteen.
(+10) + (-32) + (+36) = +14
