Question 24974: We are learning standard forms of linear equations. Here are 2 problems i did and the teacher marked wrong,why?
Ax+By=C
1. rewrite this y=2x-7 in standard form: my work: y=2x-7
-2x -2x (minus 2x on both side)
____________
-2x+y=-7 is my ans.
2. rewrite this y= 3/4x-5 in standard form:
my work: y=3/4x-5
4y=4(3/4x-5) multiply by 4 on
both side and use
distributive property
_____________
4y=3x-20
-3x -3x minus 3x on both side
_______________
-3x + 4y= -20 is my ans.
What am i doing wrong?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You have the right idea but she may have told you
to write it in a particular way such as
2x+(-1)y= 7 and
3x+(-4)y=20
the standard form is ax+by=c and she may have
wanted you to determine a,b, and c.
Good luck in the future.
Cheers,
